Love Pendulum Pendant

Love’s Pendulum calls on magic and witchery in the pursuit of love. Reimagining a tool used in witchcraft, this hand-enamelled pendant is rich with symbols of luck and love.

An engraved horseshoe, that traditional symbol of good fortune, frames the miniature painting. Enamelled chamomile, primrose, elderberries, and rosemary curl their way along the horseshoe, a heady mix of herbs and flowers used for love potions.

In witchcraft folklore, an apple reveals the identity of your intended. Engraved on the back of the amulet is a spell to tempt and keep a lover; ‘Red is my blood / And red is my heart / Lucky in love / Never keep us apart’. 

Locked in an embrace, a pair of skeletons become the trunk of an engraved tree. Clasped for eternity, they show us “love never dies”. Still, a green snake winds around their legs, a reminder of lingering temptation.

A black raven surveys the scene from high above, clutching the blue sapphire evil eye in its beak. Glittering like apples amongst the tree branches, red rubies nod to desire.
